Does your current condition qualify you for government disability grants?
Articleby Mark Jagger
Anyone who is a citizen of the United States and has any kind of disability can make application for one of the relevant disability grants which the government makes available from its tax revenues. Regardless of the disability or indeed the extent or severity, an application can be made providing the applicant has written confirmation form a qualified medial practitioner or other health professional.
It is a statistical fact that American citizens who have disability of one form or another are more than likely to suffer the effects of poverty and deprivation; they also statistically suffer the highest rates of illness and other associated health problems, the highest rates of unemployment and the lowest level of education standard of all minority groups in the United States.
Government grants are available to help individuals and their families out of the poverty trap, and in many cases individuals suffering disability are able to apply for government funding to enable them to start a business. Disability is a big issue in the modern United States and equal opportunity for all citizens is paramount to the government. Not that making a grant application is easy; nothing in life worth having is particularly easy to come by.
On the other hand if there is a viable business idea and opportunity, disability should not and will not be seen as an obstacle to achieving success in life for the individual and/or their family; a business run by a disabled person has as much chance of success as one run by an able bodied individual.
Disabilities can strike a person at anytime in their lives; disability caused through injuries sustained in road vehicle collisions, industrial accidents or as a result of illness all qualify a person to be considered for funding via government grant. Education grants can help fund a disabled person into a new career path; take for instance a construction worker injured on the job and unable to work in the profession again, making application to retrain as a teacher would be accepted as a positive step in the right direction by the relevant grant board.
Making an application for disability grants is a time consuming process, but if your situation is such that a disability impinges on what one might consider a ‘normal lifestyle’ or ‘normal work’ is affecting your ability to support a family or indeed yourself, your chances of a successful application are much higher.
